Sheffield Hire Company Creates New Jobs with £2million Telehandler order

Eagle Platforms, a UK leading powered access hire company based in Sheffield, is creating 6 new jobs due to a £2million pound order of Telehandlers.

SHEFFIELD, ENGLAND, January 29, 2021 / — Eagle Platforms, a UK leading powered access hire company based in South Anston Sheffield, is creating 6 new jobs due to a £2million pound order of Telehandlers.

The jobs include HGV driver demonstrator, plant mechanic and apprenticeships, as well as sales executive and administration roles within the business. These roles were required to manage the supply and delivery of new plant to clients across the Yorkshire region.

The new order comprises of over 30 telehandlers in the Haulotte HTL range, which will be familiar with customers of Eagle Platforms as the range is a staple in their inventory. Now the Sheffield based provider can count the 7M, 10M, 12M, 13M and 17M units among their stock, once the new order drops in mid-February. The new order is worth £2M so is certainly a statement of intent and a major outlay as Eagle Platforms seek to cement their reputation as one of the UK’s leading working at height equipment providers.

Dan Stewart, Managing Director Designate of Eagle Platforms, says “I am extremely pleased to say that despite the obvious effect of COVID on the Construction industry we have been able to expand our workforce and grow our fleet. By adding new Telehandlers to our fleet, we can offer a truly one stop shop to our clients, and bring our expertise and standards from the Access industry to the supply of Telehandlers too! It also means that we are able to expand our team with the appointments of another Sales Manager, a Mechanic with Telehandler expertise, a further driver and Hire Administrator.”

Haulotte are a world leader in MEWPs and telehandlers and their UK base is in Wolverhampton, providing easy access to the entire country. Their equipment always seeks to push the envelope in terms of quality, comfort, precision, efficiency and performance, while keeping safety as the number one priority. The HTL range is no different and with five different sized machines Eagle Platforms have enough variety to fulfil all manner of jobs. The largest, 17M telehandler is capable of handling loads of up to 4 tonnes, while even the smallest 7M machine has a stunning 3.2 tonne lift capacity.

In terms of extras the HTL range is flush, featuring hydraulic PTO systems making it easy to add attachments, cameras to help with reversing, ergonomic and intuitive cabs with driving positions designed to eliminate working fatigue and smart control 4 in 1 joysticks as well as many more excellent features. The Haulotte telehandlers are an Eagle Platforms favourite for good reason, with safety a primary concern, efficiency high and the fact that the machines are easy to maintain and quick to fix and service thanks to intelligent build.

The fact that Eagle Platforms is a dedicated training provider, indeed one of the UK’s biggest players in this field, means that customers can fulfil all their training requirements with the Sheffield based company. They offer a full range of IPAF and PASMA programmes, including, of course the 3A (for Scissor Lifts) and 3B (for Cherry Pickers) categories as well as the PAL+ course for advanced users working in more challenging terrain, confined spaces and higher risk environments. Green Globe Certifies Two Lefay Resorts & Residences Properties

Lefay Resort & SPA Dolomiti

Lefay continues to spearhead green practices in sustainable tourism, setting new precedents for wellness resorts globally.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, January 29, 2021 / — Green Globe recertified Lefay Resort & SPA Lago di Garda and awarded Lefay Resort & SPA Dolomiti its very first certification at the end of 2020.

“We are very happy to be awarded the inaugural Green Globe Certification of Lefay Resort & SPA Dolomiti as well as receiving recertification of Lefay Resort & SPA Lago di Garda once again. Personal wellness should never overlook environmental wellness. This is why the resorts of the Group have been designed and built with respect for the environment, in accordance with the Lefay philosophy, which has made social and environmental responsibility one of its principal, indispensable guidelines,” said Alcide Leali, CEO of Lefay Resorts & Residences.

Lefay continues to spearhead green practices in sustainable tourism, setting new precedents for wellness resorts globally. Ongoing efforts are made to reduce GHG emissions and high technology solutions are utilized to conserve energy at each property.

Neutralisation of CO2 Emissions
In 2011, Lefay commenced major efforts in tackling the issue of CO2 emissions. On the 20th of December that year, the company signed a voluntary agreement with the Ministry of the Environment and Protection of Land and Sea in Rome. The agreement promotes common projects aimed at assessing individual environmental footprints through the calculation of a carbon footprint and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

Since 2013 Lefay Resort & SPA Lago di Garda has been compensating 100% of its carbon emissions. Compensation is made by discounting the outstanding share of carbon emissions against the purchase of CERs credits recognised by the UN in compliance with the provisions of the Kyoto protocol. Implementation of such programs is aimed at cutting CO2 emissions and other greenhouse gases in both developing and other countries.

Investment in Energy Conservation
Lefay has invested in new technologies that enable more efficient use of energy and the extensive utilisation of clean and renewable energy sources. These cutting-edge technologies assist in providing guests with the luxury of all comforts and services whilst retaining the utmost respect for the environment.

In particular, the Technology Facility at Lefay Resort & SPA Lago di Garda is comprised of a biomass plant, a micro-turbine cogeneration plant and an absorption cooling system. It is one of the few plants of this type in Italy that ensures 75% of cooling production and uses heat emitted through the exhaust of the micro-turbines and the biomass boiler to generate cool air. The remaining 25% of cooling is produced by a high-performance compression cooling system. The biomass plants are fed by wood chips, local woods and gardening waste to produce thermal energy with significantly reduced carbon emissions which is used for heating rooms, swimming pools and producing sanitary warm water.

At Lefay Resort & SPA Lago di Garda, the biomass plant covers around 70% of the property's demand and allows an annual oil saving of about 220,000 litres equivalent to an annual CO2 emission reduction worth about 510 tons. At Lefay Resort & SPA Dolomiti, it is estimated that the biomass boiler, with a nominal power of 1,100 kW, covers more than 50% of the needs of the property. Here the annual oil saving is about 300,000 litres, which corresponds to a CO2 emissions reduction of about 900 tons.

In addition to the biomass plant and the cogeneration plant at Lefay Resort & SPA Dolomiti, a free cooling system has been installed with two air-cooled chillers. The system operates primarily during the favourable weather conditions in summer when cool outdoor air can be used as a cooling source rather than a refrigeration process.

ICML Marks 20 Years of Machinery Lubrication Certifications and Support with Special Activities

This 20-year timeline shows that ICML's responsiveness to industry needs has yielded consistent progress since its first exam 20 years ago, even during the 2020 pandemic shutdowns.

ICML’s First 20 Years: A History of Responsiveness and Progress

With 40 thousand certification exams completed, ICML continues its journey by acknowledging industry supporters and successful candidates.

BROKEN ARROW, OK, USA, January 28, 2021 / — The International Council for Machinery Lubrication (ICML) marks its 20th anniversary of continuous operation this year with several ongoing activities and recognition opportunities.

The nonprofit organization began its longstanding certification program for lubrication and oil analysis practitioners in January, 2001. Since then, ICML has administered thousands of exams and has supported individuals and organizations through additional programs that strengthen machinery lubrication and oil analysis as technical fields of endeavor.

Anniversary activities this year will include special pricing offers and advertising opportunities, multi-media profiles of longtime members and certificants, and a redesign of the ICML website and online support tools. Details and updates regarding these activities will be posted to ICML’s website and social media channels throughout the year.

“ICML’s twenty-year history is one of team effort,” says Leslie Fish, ICML Executive Director. “We certainly would not be where we are today without our members and volunteer experts, nor would we be so well known were it not for partnerships and alliances with like-minded industry groups and independent training partners all over the world. With our celebratory activities this year, we hope to draw attention to their contributions.”

Rosania Kloss, ICML’s Operations Manager, concurs: “As someone who has been with ICML since the beginning, I am excited to see practitioners continue to appreciate what ICML has to offer.”

Established in part to help lubrication practitioners succeed in their professional careers, ICML conducted its first exam when five oil analysis practitioners gathered on January 26, 2001, to earn their Machine Lubricant Analyst credentials in Biloxi, Mississippi. (They all passed.) By mid-April ICML had launched its second exam type to test machinery lubrication technicians. ICML went international with its first overseas exams in the UK and Australia later that same year, then expanded into multiple languages in early 2002, and they haven’t looked back since.

In its first 20 years the organization has coordinated with a large network of independent training providers and allies to administer almost 40 thousand certification exams in nearly a dozen languages at over 48 hundred exam sessions across the globe. During this time, ICML issued 24 thousand professional certificates to oil analysts (MLA), lubrication technicians (MLT), laboratory analysts (LLA), and machinery lubrication engineers (MLE).

“The ICML fulfilled a previously unmet need in the field of lubrication and oil analysis,” says Noria Corporation CEO Jim Fitch, ICML's founding director and a current board member. “It serves the working class of our industry, people who nurture the health of expensive and critical machinery.”

"Through certifications, ICML has provided a vital measure of lubrication fundamentals to our industry, and this has enhanced the professionalism of its practitioners," notes ICML Board Chairman Bryan Johnson of Arizona Public Service.

When local governments worldwide implemented restrictions on physical gatherings due to the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, ICML quickly pivoted to develop online exam options, rolling out this new opportunity last July.

"Twenty years ago, our founding members recognized the integral but underrated role of lubrication practitioners in the broad scope of machine maintenance and reliability," says Paul Hiller, ICML Marketing Manager. "But the journey to excellence should never end. So, it was important to us that we continue supporting our certification candidates and our training partners alike—and the online exams allowed us to do that.”

ICML consists of members, professional staff, and technical contributors from around the world. In addition to maintaining its fundamental role as a certification body for 20 years, ICML also oversees industry awards, professional memberships, and asset management standards.

ICML implemented its annual awards program in 2001, recognizing physical plants with the Augustus H. Gill Award and the John R. Battle Award for on-site programs that demonstrate oil analysis and machinery lubrication excellence, respectively.

Membership packages were revamped in 2019 and offer flexibility, benefits, and engagement opportunities for organizations and certified individuals who wish to support ICML’s mission, gain promotional exposure, collaborate with peers, and secure exam credits.

ICML engages subject matter experts to serve as technical volunteers on standing and ad hoc committees in such areas as test development, membership development, and awards assessment. To date, the crowning achievement of the volunteer force has been the simultaneous development of the ICML 55® Standards and MLE credential for machinery lubrication engineers.

“For twenty years, ICML has been playing an increasingly impactful role in standardizing machinery lubrication practices across industries with industry experts and volunteers," states ICML Board Member Yuegang Zhao of KPM Analytics, "especially after releasing the industry-first lubrication standard—ICML 55—and MLE certification in recent years.”

The ICML 55 Standards comprise requirements and guidelines for effective, certifiable management of lubricated mechanical assets. These standards are strategically aligned to ISO 55000 and are intended to support an organization’s physical asset management plans. Part 1 was co-authored by an international team of 45 technical contributors and was published in 2019: “ICML 55.1: Requirements for the Optimized Lubrication of Mechanical Physical Assets.”

ICML developed its management-level MLE credential in conjunction with ICML 55. The extensive, 24-part body of knowledge targets reliability and asset leaders. To date, this rigorous, exclusive credential has been earned by fewer than 100 practitioners worldwide.

ICML is a vendor-neutral, member-based, technical nonprofit organization serving global industry since 2001 as the world-class authority on machinery lubrication that advances the optimization of asset reliability, utilization and costs. ICML consists of both paid professional staff members and volunteer committees. It is a certification body serving industrial lubrication and oil analysis practitioners worldwide; a technical awards body recognizing companies that excel in oil analysis and machinery lubrication programs; and the developer of ICML 55 standards for lubricated asset management.

ICML 55® and Machinery Lubrication Engineer (MLE)® are registered trademarks of ICML.

Advanced Biofuels in Canada Have Untapped Potential New Study Shows

New Jobs, Growth and Net Zero Emissions

This report captures the untapped opportunity of new biofuel production in Canada to create clean energy jobs, but also its critical role in helping Canada meet its net-zero climate objectives.”

— Ian Thomson, President, Advanced Biofuels

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA, January 28, 2021 / — A new third-party study by the Labovitz School of Business and Economics at the University of Minnesota at Duluth concludes that the biofuels industry in Canada could double in size by 2030 and produce over 20,000 new jobs and $10 billion in additional output. The study underscores the potential of advanced biofuels and the new federal Clean Fuel Standard to reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions.

“This report captures the untapped opportunity of new biofuel production in Canada,” said Ian Thomson, President of Advanced Biofuels Canada. “It shows that every new biofuel facility creates clean energy jobs and new sustainable growth in rural agricultural and forestry communities. Advanced biofuels not only help the economy, but they are also critical for Canada to meet its net-zero climate objectives."

The Labovitz School of Business and Economics study, commissioned by Advanced Biofuels, assesses the impact of increasing biofuel production in Canada from its baseline level of 2,500 million litres per year in 2020 to between low and high estimates of 4,645 and 6,111 million litres per year in 2030.

The new study further confirms that the 28 biofuel production facilities in Canada currently generate $2 billion in revenue and directly employ more than 1,500 workers. In addition to directly employed workers, the facilities support another 11,441 indirect jobs. Biofuels support almost $784 million in labour income, nearly $1.7 billion in value-added spending, and nearly $5.3 billion in total output.

New investments in advanced biofuels in Canada could create more than 20,000 additional jobs, $1.3 billion in new wages and benefits, $2.7 billion in value-added spending, and almost $10 billion in new output by 2030. Advanced biofuel production at those levels could lead to between 10MT and 13Mt of greenhouse gas emissions reductions.

The federal Clean Fuel Standard, currently under development, is designed to accelerate the use of clean technologies and fuels and create good jobs in a diversified economy.

“There is some equally welcome news in the report for Western Canada,” added Thomson. “The study identified the agricultural sector as the greatest beneficiary of increased biofuels production in the coming decade.”

The latest review of a decade of renewable fuel use in Canada has shown that biofuels are a cost-effective means of reducing carbon emissions for industry and consumers.

Both a synopsis and the full Bureau of Business and Economic Research study entitled Economic Impact of Current and 10-Year Projections of Biofuels Production in Canada are available on the Advanced Biofuels website.

— Chairman Keun-Young Kim

MATADI, CONGO CENTRAL PROVINCE, DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO, January 28, 2021 / — We are extremely proud to announce to the world that our 1st good news in 2021 is that from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding which was aired on the main broadcasting station in Matadi, between Mr. Papy Lutete who represents WTIA in DRC and Mr. Atou Matubuana Nkuluki, governor of Kongo Central Province. said an elated Chairman Keun-Young Kim.

The Democratic Republic of The Congo is blessed with abundant resources but along with that came much misery and strife for its people stuck between the war lords and the influential bunch who have siphoned off almost all of these riches for their person gain leaving this richly blessed nation to struggle in poverty.

To highlight some of the vast resources, Copper reserves alone are 140 million tons, accounting for 15% of the world, and cobalt also accounts for about 60% of the world with 6 million tons of reserves, so many countries are showing interest in resource development, and tantalum, the main raw material for capacitors. Coltan, a mixture of and niobium, ranks first in the world. Uranium is also considered to have the 8th largest reserves in the world, In addition to this, there are tremendous resources such as gold, tin, manganese, uranium, lead, and zinc, and even offshore oil fields are being developed.

In the last few years, more than 100,000 refugees have fled the civil war and crossed the border due to the war intensified by these resources. The rich underground resources of the Democratic Congo have only caused disaster to the people. There is a movement demanding not to use rare earth minerals from the Democratic Congo, which induce destruction of nature and help the ships of warlords, There is now a law to regulate the 'Conflict Mineral'.

Although there is a history of various national pains and pains of the past that are still ongoing, the Democratic Republic of the Congo is a very large country and a market with great potential. That is why WTIA has been making great efforts to penetrate into the Democratic Republic of the Congo as a key target country for the last 5 years relentlessly, and has been making great in-roads since last year.

The details of the memorandum of understanding agreed and signed with the governor of Central Congo this time are divided into 3 parts.
1. Providing Electricity along with our Consortium Partner ( J. O. Engineering )
2. Infrastructure Development
3. CSR – Corporate Social Responsibility ( The Solar Cow Program)
