Iran Vows to Missile-Strike All Regional Energy Sites If US Attacks

(MENAFN) A senior Iranian parliamentary official delivered one of Tehran's most sweeping threats yet on Tuesday, warning that a US military strike against Iran would trigger a barrage of Iranian missiles targeting energy infrastructure across the entire region, according to remarks carried by a news agency.

Hamidreza Haji Babaei, deputy speaker of the Iranian parliament, left little room for ambiguity in his warning to Washington.

"If the United States carries out even the smallest military attack against Iran, all energy facilities in the region will come under a barrage of Iranian missiles," said Haji Babaei.

He further claimed that any eruption of direct conflict would cost Washington access to its oil, gas, and broader regional interests for years. Despite the charged rhetoric, Haji Babaei insisted Tehran remained unfazed by US military posturing, arguing that Washington harbored deep reluctance to enter into direct confrontation despite mounting regional tensions.

The remarks landed against a backdrop of sharply escalating hostilities. US President Donald Trump had previously warned that Washington would respond after an Iranian attack brought down a US Army Apache helicopter above the Strait of Hormuz, stating the US "must" respond to the incident. US Central Command confirmed that two crew members had been recovered and said the cause of the crash remained under active investigation.

In a separate development, an Iranian deputy foreign minister told Al Jazeera that the helicopter had not been deliberately targeted by Iran. The official denied Tehran bore responsibility but acknowledged that, given the volatile state of the region, such incidents could occur unintentionally.

Haji Babaei went on to accuse the US of having crossed multiple Iranian red lines throughout the ceasefire period, while urging Tehran to concentrate its energies on breaking free from economic pressure and sanctions. He characterized the prevailing "no war, no peace" dynamic as contrary to Iran's national interests, and warned that any hostile intrusion by foreign military aircraft, helicopters, or naval vessels into the region would draw a direct response from Iran's armed forces — encompassing both the regular military and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
