EPIC Announces Approval of New Build 730-mile Permian Basin-to-Corpus Christi Crude Pipeline

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS, UNITED STATES, December 21, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ — EPIC today announced that it has received sufficient customer interest to sanction the proposed 730-mile crude pipeline running from the Permian Basin to Corpus Christi based upon volume commitments and acreage dedications.

Following the successful open season originally initiated in March of this year, EPIC announced an additional ten-day Open Season last week to offer remaining firm-capacity out of both the Permian and Eagle Ford basins, with the latter having terminals in Gardendale and Helena.

EPIC Crude Pipeline Commercial Update
The 730-mile crude petroleum pipeline runs across Texas from Orla in the Permian Basin to the Port of Corpus Christi with capacity up to 590,000 barrels per day. The project includes terminals in Orla, Pecos, Crane, Wink, Midland, Helena and Gardendale, with Port of Corpus Christi connectivity and export access.

Expected to be in-service in 2019, the EPIC Crude Pipeline is being laid alongside EPIC’s previously announced NGL Pipeline System, which is currently under construction. Right-of-way acquisition commenced back in October after the EPIC NGL project was kicked off.

Distinctive to the EPIC crude project relative to traditional mainline pipeline commercial formats, customers have been provided the opportunity to make commitments through volume or acreage dedications.

Acreage dedication shippers for the crude project include Noble Energy, which is finalizing agreements with EPIC to dedicate substantially all of its gross acre position in Reeves County up to 75,000 barrels of oil per day. EPIC is in advanced discussions with numerous other producers in the Permian Basin to secure acreage dedications on similar terms.

Separately, another company has made an additional volume commitment of 75,000 barrels of oil per day.

Strategic Partnership
Noble Energy and EPIC are finalizing the terms of a strategic relationship that will include an option to contribute equity in exchange for an ownership stake in the crude pipeline. Similarly, Noble will receive an option to participate in the EPIC NGL project currently under construction. The options, which include up to 30% ownership in the crude pipeline and up to 15% ownership in the NGL pipeline, expire in January of 2019 and can be exercised through Noble Energy, Inc. or its MLP subsidiary, Noble Midstream Partners LP.

We believe EPIC offers a differentiated value proposition to producers by providing a low-cost transportation option from the Permian Basin to Gulf Coast markets that includes no risk of deficiency through acreage commitments for Permian producers. Disaster relief efforts in the Caribbean are getting one more solar boost as emergency aid winds down. Azimuth Solar Products, Inc. is shipping out its unique on-the-ground emergency portable solar generator to GlobalMedic thanks to support from an online fundraiser.

The campaign was launched on Generosity.com earlier this year on September 18th in response to the damage done by Hurricane Irma in the Caribbean. Within a week the situation developed as Hurricane Maria made landfall on Puerto Rico and devastated the island’s electricity grid, prompting solar donations from around the world.
The campaign raised $1,295 USD in a month and connected with Toronto-based GlobalMedic, a non-profit organisation which deploys rapid short-term responses that provide medical relief and intervention in the wake of disasters and crisis. Their quick and dedicated responses to save lives have been recognized worldwide.
The equipment is being shipped to GlobalMedic’s headquarters in Toronto, Ontario. From there they will load the donations with the rest of their supplies for their last trip to the Caribbean in the first week of January, and deploy the solar equipment to response teams in the field.

Among the donations is a functional prototype of Azimuth’s high-powered portable solar generator system. The system includes four panels mounted on a durable, custom-built tripod for a total of 360 Watts power. This system can tilt and rotate 360 degrees to follow the sun and is easily assembled and disassembled without tools, making it ideal for travelling into remote locations, over difficult terrain, or where infrastructure is damaged.
This system is similar to systems used by NATO or the U.S. Armed Forces but at less than half the cost, and is powerful enough to run crucial medical and communication equipment in GlobalMedic’s response centres.
The solar generator will come equipped with power management components including a combination charge controller and pure sine inverter.

They both have experience in disaster response with wildfires and natural disasters in B.C., and they designed their portable system with emergency response in mind.
